The Actor's Art | Summer Theatre Camp | Carpe Aestatem!
Our acting class for teens will focus on using all of the actor’s tools: body, voice, imagination, and script. Class topics will include auditioning, script analysis, character building techniques, and performance. This program is offered in the fall and spring semesters and has a flexible schedule with classes offered weekly. Makeup sessions may be offered if students cannot attend the weekly session. Course study is designed to support, enrich, and extend the student’s current high school program and culminates in a showcase of the students’ work. Guest artists will include theatre professionals and young artists from the Austin area.

* Make-up classes may be available on Fridays (5-7pm) for those who cannot attend.

The six week summer camp is a place for the beginning actor to develop skills while having fun, as well as a place for the advanced actor to continue to hone his/her theatrical craft. Students will benefit from the tutelage of working theatre professionals who will serve as guest artists during workshop sessions. Camp sessions will be held on weekdays beginning in mid-June and concluding at the end of July. The camp culminates in the performance of a challenging modern or classical play in late July or early August. Beginning in 2013, an optional travel program called "Carpe Aestatem!" (Seize the Summer!) will also be offered (in odd numbered years) at the conclusion of the camp for an additional fee. See below for more information.
