Having already started filming a movie adaptation of Gone with the Wind, legendary Hollywood producer David O. Selznick comes to the conclusion that the screenplay is absolutely terrible. Over the course of five madcap days, Selznick locks himself in a room with famed director Victor Flemming and writer Ben Hecht and forces them to frantically craft a new screenplay with nothing to sustain them but peanuts and bananas. Take a fun, high-speed look at the behind-the-scene birth of one of the most beloved films of all time.
In the news
"Moonlight and Magnolias takes us back in time to the golden age of Hollywood and the circus behind the scenes... a funny and farcical romp for anyone out to enjoy an evening of theater."
-Austin American-Statesman
"Moonlight and Magnolias is well worth the price of the ticket. More than that, it sets something of a benchmark for high-intensity comedies, one that challenges other comedy-producing companies in the Austin region. We certainly look forward to the rest of Penfold’s fifth anniversary season!"
-Austin Live Theatre
"Farcical and funny... riotous... a fun night of theatre, with a little back-lot legend thrown in for good measure."
-Austin Chronicle
"Moonlight and Magnolias, much like the film that inspired it, is a triumphant work where all the elements have come together. The writing, directing, and acting are all top-notch. This is one rip-snorting riot!"
