Reading of New Work in Development
Your Old Fashioned Die Hard Holiday Radiocast
Saturday, December 17 at 5pm at the Old Settlers Association of Williamson County
Thursday, December 22 at 10pm at the Driskill Hotel
After years of sincere retellings of beloved, nostalgia-soaked Christmas stories, Penfold Theatre invites you to a version of Die Hard, reimagined as the irreverent, “Prairie Home Companion” Christmas Special that never should have existed. Because some nights Christmas just isn’t Christmas until Bruce Willis drops Alan Rickman off a California skyscraper…on a wholesome 1940’s radio broadcast.
Directed by Jonathan Young, this reading features:
- Lowell Bartholomee (A Miracle on 34th Street) as Hans Gruber
- Joseph Garlock (Henry V) as John McClain
- Sarah Marie Curry (Ghost Quartet) as Holly
- Kenah Benefield (A War of the Worlds) as Argyle and Al
- Christine Hoang as Takagi and Detective Robinson
- Kevin Percival (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as Eillis and Karl
- Ryan Crowder (A War of the Worlds) as vocal foley
Tickets sold separately from A Christmas Carol Classic Radiocast. Contains adult language and (silly) simulated violence.

Great Plays in Great Places Series
The Great Plays in Great Places Series features stories that are inspired by, in conversation with or performed in unique places across the region.
The Driskill, a Romanesque-style building completed in 1886, is the oldest operating hotel in Austin and one of the best-known in Texas generally. The Driskill was conceived and built by Col. Jesse Driskill, a cattleman who spent his fortune constructing “the finest hotel south of St. Louis”. Still an icon of local luxury, the Driskill is decorated lavishly for Christmas every year to welcome visitors from across the nation and the world.
This project is funded in part by the City of Round Rock.
