Wild Horses is a savagely funny one-woman coming-of-age story about a threshold summer that forever alters an adolescent girl, as portrayed by her grown-up self.
It’s the 70s, there’s music and make-outs, and freedom is just out of reach. Jennifer Coy Jennings navigates the pathos and hubris of teenage years—trapped in a dysfunctional family but surrounded by friends whose exploits are both hilarious and poignant, verging at times on harrowing.
Together, they hatch a zany plan to free a herd of horses from captivity, but it’s clear the horses are not the only ones longing to escape. Complex and timeless, this is a coming-of-age story for all generations.
“Jennings channels all of her natural vivacity into making this story hers, and she owns it so thoroughly, with such abundant humor and rowdiness and fervor and heartbreak, that the story becomes ours as well; the experience is as intimate as a slumber party.” – The Austin Chronicle
“At times heartbreaking and unremittingly hilarious, Jennifer Coy Jennings excels.” – SightLines
