New Venue

Penfold is opening a theatre venue in Round Rock!

This fall, after 16 award-winning seasons without a home of our own, we are opening the first professional theatre venue in Round Rock! Instead of spending resources moving from place to place, we will be scaling up our programs, building deeper relationships in the community, and giving other performing artists access to affordable space at a time when venues are disappearing.

Driving revitalization in north Round Rock

The visionary team at Danly Properties has recruited Penfold to turn Rock Creek Plaza (2120 North Mays Street, Round Rock 78664) into a unique cultural destination. The development is ideally located in north Round Rock, with I-35 on one side and Mays Street on the other. From this envious location, Penfold will operate the only professional theatre venue between central Austin and Georgetown.

Rock Creek Plaza already boasts newly renovated exteriors and an impressive collection of restaurants, including Kerbey Lane, Tumble 22, Via 313, Velvet Taco, Ramen Tatsuya, JuiceLand, and Amy’s Ice Cream.

Expanding programs and partnerships

Starting this fall, you can look forward to an elevated patron experience and the art you love at a whole new scale. Be sure to check back in June, when the full line-up for our 17th Season will be announced! You can also sign up to get updates emailed to your inbox.

We’re also excited to open our new home to other arts organizations who, like us, have been struggling to find reliable, affordable space to perform. These include theatre, music, dance, improv and education partners from Round Rock and beyond. In fact, we are currently assembling a cohort of resident arts organizations who will join Penfold in serving up a dynamic, year-round slate of performances and classes for audiences of all ages.

Join the Homecoming Campaign

Phase One of the Homecoming Campaign will raise $100,000 in cash and donated goods and services to make our 6,500 square foot home performance-ready. Since the space is already laid out as an assembly hall, there is no need for extensive construction and renovation. Instead, every dollar raised can be spent on the equipment needed to give you a transportive theatre experience.

This includes:

  • External signage to make the theatre welcoming and easy to find
  • An inviting lobby where you can check-in easily and enjoy food and drink from the bar
  • Comfortable stadium seating where every seat has a good view
  • A newly equipped stage and backstage with lighting and sound equipment for performances
  • A lightly-renovated flexible event room for rehearsals, readings, classes and community events

Already, the Next Act Foundation has stepped up with a leading grant of $35,000. Once Phase One is complete, the City of Round Rock has approved a grant to cover the entire cost of rent for the first two years, ensuring the venture has the time it needs to take flight!

You play a starring role!

To reach our Phase One goal, we’ll need to work together. Everyone has something valuable to give! Inkind goods and professional services are extremely valuable, as are donations at all levels.

As one of our founding donors we want to honor you in our new home! Contributors of $250 or more will appear in our donor wall installation; contributors of $500 or more are invited to name a chair in the theatre; and contributors of $1,000 or more will be recognized on our founding donor plaque in the lobby.
